A special hello to everyone that has fished with me this past year or in the past. I hope everyone had a wonderful and Happy Holiday Season and I also hope that this year brings nothing but happiness and good fortune to all!

Captain Alan ShermanFor myself and my business “Get Em” Sportfishing Charters, 2019 saw me fishing lots of new clients and just as many longtime regulars. It was another great year of rod bending action, screaming reel drags and happy faces with big smiles and anglers leaving with sore arms from fighting fish after fish. Most released!

I can tell that 2020 will be a great year. In its first few days I was able to spend 3 hours with my wife Dana, daughter Courtney, son in law Doug and 13-month-old granddaughter Palmer on my boat the “Get Em” we idled around North Bay. It was Palmers 1st boat ride and after an hour nap on the cooler with my daughter she awoke with a huge smile which got bigger while she helped me steer our way through the bay. Palmer also enjoyed our lunch at Shuckers on the Bay. Nice way to usher in 2020!

Unfortunately, it was also a year of saying goodbye to some old friends and fellow captains. Goodbye Capt. Boob! (Bobby Probst), Captain Jay Cohen (Spell Bound charters), Captain Claire (Lady Mitchell), Mr. Ed Feldsott (Folsom Tackle) and a few non fishing people and family members! You were all great friends, good people and will be missed dearly!

2019 brought great catches and lifetime memories to so many of my clients and me. It hardly mattered whether we fished North Bay for variety or South Bay for snappers and groupers, offshore for dolphin fish, Flamingo for snook, redfish, sea trout, tarpon, sharks, tripletail and others or the Everglades freshwater areas for largemouth bass and panfish. The fishing was good if not great and the clients even better.

Instead of adding a ton of pictures to this report I ask you to check out my Facebook page at Alan Sherman or my Instagram page at Capt_Alan_Sherman for all the catches and reports that went with them.

If you are into Podcasts, then check out Florida Sportsman Magazines new Podcast that is updated every Friday. The podcast consists of close to a dozen captains and guides that give a fishing update of their fishing areas that cover the whole state of Florida. The show is hosted by Captain Rick Ryals. I am responsible for the South Regions report.

I look for a repeat of all the good things that 2019 brought us for 2020!

Happy New Year from “Get Em” Sportfishing Charters and me Captain Alan Sherman.
